Favoured by printmakers for its ability to hold detail and sharp edges during the printmaking process Japanese Shina Carving Plywood is the most widely used plywood in Japan for printmaking. Shina 'Tilia Japonica' is a sustainable timber grown in the colder parts of Japan and is renowned for its fine, almost undiscernable grain. It is manufactured into Shina Plywood that is soft and easy to carve. This easy to cut plywood also works well with oil based inks and woodcarving tools.

  • 4mm thick
  • High quality plywood, free of voids, knots or blemishes
  • A favorite among Japanese printmakers
  • Like basswood, Shina feels virtually grainless as you carve it and it is soft enough to carve very easily.
  • Significantly less swelling, shrinking or warping with this plywood compared to solid planks.
